Mr Joe’s

FOOD 6/10

VALUE 6/10

ATMOSPHERE n/a because food was delivered

The food at Mr Joe’s is of the extremely average variety; there is nothing much wrong with it and there is not too much right about it. It is kind of hard to explain………it isn’t bad by any means, but here is how it seemed.

9 inch, ”Joe’s special pizza”:

The base seemed fresh and crispy and the crusts were ok, the problem here lied in the flavours. The toppings, (even though it was completely covered), were extremely bland and I found myself using a variety of sauces to try and spice it up. I am not saying that it was a bad pizza, but it is no better than a £2 pizza that you could get from any of the major supermarkets.

2 piece chicken and chips:

The chicken when being honest was just not up to scratch and the chips were also a touch greasy. Considering you can get more than this for less from KFC, you may want to look elsewhere. Unfortunately it does seem like this standard is par for the course for many inner city takeouts.

The delivery was fast and the gentleman who fetched the food was very well mannered and provided some light hearted banter, not too many complaints here really.

The value here is of the same ilk as the food; it is distinctly average and in no way sets it apart from the sea of other food places that there are to go to in Preston.

I would like to make it clear that Mr Joe’s is not a bad place to go and eat, it is just that the food is average and the value also rather mediocre. It is not good enough for me to recommend it and not bad enough to tell you to steer clear……….having said that Pizza city would be a much better place to go, either there or the superb Ribbleton Tandoori. The choice is vast and in  a world of choice Mr Joe’s just does not try hard enough.
